Who is my audience?

What is an audience?

The dictionary definition of audience is:  the persons reached by a book, radio or television broadcast, etc.; public: Some works of music have wide and varied audience.

An audience can be split into two separate categories passive and active. The passive audience will just take what the text they are being given and take in the information. The active audience will take this information and act upon it by getting involved this could be something like taking to a forum site to express an opinion on the text they have taken in.

My magazine audience

The audience of my magazine has proven to be active as I have had response from a survey post. I already know that the audience of the magazine is late teens and above so I will try to make it as accessible for as many people from that age range as I can.

How will this information help me?

From this information I now know that I should include sections in the magazine that give the audience a chance to interact with me or other readers. Also in the survey I asked what colours people thought would represent comedy music best and I received these results: Red, yellow, pink, green, purple, orange and blue. This shows that the audience thinks the magazine should feature bright colours for a comedy music magazine and I will keep this in mind for the house style/mise en scene for the magazine.
